(I forget) God knows what He’s talking about.
That might seem like an odd first statement. Of course, Allah knows what He’s talking about; He is Al-ʿAlīm, the All-Knowing, after all. Unfortunately though, this is one of those statements that sits upon the tongues, rarely ever to be swallowed into the heart. Let me show you how:
As humans, we’ll never be able to have the all knowledge necessary to make a decision that we are 100% sure of. Why then do we not trust the decision made by the One who does have knowledge over it all?
And it’s not just about knowing that Allah is the All-Knowing but alsoAl-Wadūd, the Most-Loving and He would not prescribe something for us unless it is the best possible thing for us.
Not only is He the One who loves us the most but he is also Al-Khaliq The Creator, the one who knows us the best and is All-Knowing about the situation we are in. Hence, every piece of the puzzle necessary is present for us to trust Him completely and follow what He says.
Which begs the question, why don’t we (I) heed His advice?
When everything is going wrong, when deadlines are piling up and family is overbearing, when friends are too busy themselves to pick up the burden and every door seems to shut in your face and all the windows are sealed, why do we not follow Allah (swt) when He says
“seek assistance through patience and prayer” [2:45]
Why instead do we automatically start to either freak out or give up?
When Allah says
“Say to the believing men to lower their gaze and guard their modesty….”
“And say to the believing women to lower their gaze and guard their modesty.” [Qur’an, 24:30-31]
should we not hear and obey as the righteous before us did? Why then do we insist that we know better, that we’re the exception that doesn’t need Allah’s ruling, that this guidance – and all others – were given for ‘weaker’ Muslims?
We really need to reevaluate ourselves. We need to make sure that we really trust in Allah and that complete dependence upon Him embedded in our hearts. Because without that, we cannot hope to be like those righteous before us who heard and obeyed.
As always, this is advice to myself first before anyone else, and this time more than any other.

GOOD LUCK AND NEVER GIVE UP! 🙂
